Raising awareness for any issue begins with data. We need to know and communicate the facts on the ground if we're going to mobilize people and make a difference. This is the case with every important fight - including the fight for gender equality. So, what are the important data points to remember? There are lots of them. Probably too many to remember. And new data is released every year that changes the picture of things. That's why it's important to have a source for the latest information on worldwide gender inequality.

Our World in Data has made much of the most pertinent information available in a simple, easy-to-digest format that's well worth looking over. They even include a quick summary at the top that gives you the some of the most important tidbits to remember, such as...
- All over the world men tend to earn more than women.
- Women are often underrepresented in senior positions within firms.
- Women are often overrepresented in low-paying jobs.
- In many countries men are more likely to own land and control productive assets than women.
- Women often have limited influence over important household decisions, including how their own personal earned income is spent.
- In most countries the gender pay gap has decreased in the last couple of decades.
If you care about the fight for gender equality, you owe it to yourself to spend some time studying this data. It's the foundation for everything we do moving forward.
