The coming data revolution

This presentation on recent tech trends brings up the fact that data is increasingly a geopolitical issue. We've already seen this to some degree with the whole idea of big tech's "censorship" of certain voices. And the Netflix documentary The Social Dilemma brought it even closer to home. Blockchain is famous for its security and transparency. But do you think it could play a part in solving some of the problems brought on by questions of data and data ownership? What role do you think blockchain will play in government when it comes to privacy, etc? Does anyone know companies that are working on these sorts of solutions?
