Everyone knows how essential the bee population is for plant and animal life. It's been estimated that up to $577 billion in annual global crops are at risk if bees and other pollinators continue dying off. This is not an issue that we can simply write off or assume will fix itself. Human innovations have put bee populations at risk. It's time we use our minds to cultivate environments where bees can flourish. That's why it's so encouraging to see what the Netherlands is up to. They're doing an incredible job at coming up with solutions that make it easy for bees to thrive. Check out this video and you'll see how they've...

- Created a bee hotel on a billboard that's surrounded by a massive wildflower meadow
- Installed green rooftops on bus stops that are perfect for bees
- Banned pesticides on public lands
- Planted 'honey highways' - strips of wildflowers along roadways

All of this work has led to the bee population stabilizing. These aren't major investments. They simply require a commitment to caring for the land we live on. What other ideas do you have for creating environments where bees and other pollinators could thrive? Have you heard of other communities doing similar projects?
