Has anyone seen the recent leaked report from the UN about how we may be approaching a tipping point when it comes to climate change?

We need all hands on deck when it comes to developing affordable/clean energy. These [url=https://www.forbes.com/sites/jamesellsm ... 791b68f2ae]five companies[url] are already in the thick of it. Unfortunately, this article is a little old. Does anyone know of any other companies that are at the forefront of affordable/clean energy and how it can be enhanced with blockchain technology?

AdamMarks78,

Shell has a video on using blockchain technology for improving renewable energy. You can see it here:

According to their websites, they have several proof-of-concepts and at least one pilot project in place. Here's what they say about them...
At Shell, most of the blockchain projects aim to help support finding solutions for the energy transition. For example:
- Shell is exploring the potential for using blockchain to encourage wider adoption of sustainable fuels in the transport sector. We are also looking at blockchain as a way of verifying that hydrogen comes from sustainable sources.
- We are exploring blockchain as a way to ensure the validity of carbon credit programmes. By tracking the progress and effectiveness of nature-based solutions for carbon capture or avoided emissions, blockchain could identify and avoid double counting of carbon credits and help to maintain the quality of re-/afforestation or conservation projects.
- Shell is a founding member of The Energy Web Foundation, which aims to accelerate a low carbon, customer-centric electricity system. As part of this drive, the Foundation has published open source toolkits enabling any energy asset owned by any customer to participate in any energy market.
With that said, I'm not sure how much confidence you can put in Shell.

You might also take a look at Ricoh Global's current project that aims to use blockchain tech to provide a more reliable tracking system for renewable energy. It looks promising.
